RESOLUTIONS: Laying It All Out There
I don't know about y'all, but this time of year really makes me think and reflect on how I am actually feeling about myself and my body. While I am not super large, I am overweight for my body type and height, and I have decided that I want to do something about it. Now most people will say, "What are you talking about!? You're so skinny!," but I actually have gained 30 pounds within this last year. I have gone through a lot, and I think the stress of it all has really caught up with me. I am 4'10" - which means that a healthy and normal weight for my height varies from 91-118 pounds. I currently weigh 121 pounds, meaning that I am, indeed, officially in the overweight category for my height. I feel worried in many ways about expressing this to y'all because I usually get backlash for wanting to lose weight... But IT'S CALLED SWEATERS, PEOPLE. I hide behind bulky clothes because I don't feel good enough about myself to show off my body.
I want to do this to improve my self esteem and to get back to feeling HEALTHY. In the past, I have felt best at 95 pounds, so that normally would be my goal weight this year, but I really just want to feel strong and well, so I am aiming more towards appearance and strength vs. an actual number. However, I am going to aim for losing 25 pounds by June so that I have an actual goal to shoot for. This means that I basically have five months to lose the weight and get into shape for summer! I want to give myself some time to do this the safe way, without depriving myself, so that I don't give up right away. It's all about pacing yourself, and this is a journey that is definitely going to push me out of my comfort zone and into new territory. The girl in this photo below is who I want to be again. I miss feeling great in my own skin, and I cannot wait to take back control of my life.
I wanted to let y'all in on my New Year's goal so that we can support each other through the hard times of our resolutions.
